Protecting the environment is a task that
conservationists say fell by the wayside under the
environmental policies of former President George W. Bush,
but two new nature projects that seek to protect local
watersheds and forest lands are gaining momentum.
Saturday, more than 100 people showed up to cross the bridge
from New Jersey into Pennsylvania in Riegelsville to kick
off the beginning of the 100-plus mile Pennsylvania
Highlands Trail Project, part of the four-state Highlands
Trails Project that links Connecticut, New York, New Jersey
and Pennsylvania through a mega-greenway.
