Of Quakertown. The Clymer family is of German origin, the name having been formerly spelled Klemmer. It was brought to this country by two brothers, one of whom was Christian Clymer, or Klemmer. He was born in 1697 in Germany, and is thought to have emigrated to America prior to 1730. | ||

George Clymer, son of Christopher Clymer, was born at Philadelphia the 10th of June, 1739. On his mother's side he descended from the Fitzwaters, among the earliest immigrants to the province.
