CATHERINE MANDIC
CATHERINE (SCHLITZ) MANDIC died Wednesday,
Aug. 13, 2003, at her East Rockhill Township home.
She was the beloved wife of the late JOHN
MANDIC for 42 years.
Catherine was an active member of the local
community and an East Rockhill resident since 1951. She was a
den mother for Cub Scout Pack 68, and she also participated and
supported many other area youth activities such as Boy Scouts,
Girl Scouts and summer youth recreational programs.
Catherine also was a dedicated and vibrant
member of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Sellersville. She was
a founding member of St. Agnes Mothers' Guild and a
highly-regarded contributor throughout its existence. She served
as both the vice president and the Sunshine Club committee
chairwoman for the St. Agnes Silver and Gold Club and took great
pride in supporting her late husband John's accomplishments in
the Knights of Columbus. Above all, she was most proud of the
unique gifts her personal talents brought to her parish. For
more than sixteen years, she handcrafted baptismal garments for
the children of the church and chaired the committee.
Catherine also held several part-time jobs
at the Quakertown Farmers Market and Q-Mart over the past 30
years. She most recently was employed at Frederick's Meats.
As the oldest child of URBAN and CATHERINE
(BUCHNER) SCHLITZ, Catherine became the beloved matriarch for an
extended family of more than 50 members in six states. She was
the focal point of many family gatherings and activities. She
also was the mentor and a surrogate mother for many friends,
co-workers, and neighbors who also became like family to her. A
very giving person, she would readily sacrifice to do for or
give to others. An outgoing and warm person, Catherine never met
a stranger.
Catherine was the dear mother of six
children; JOHN "STEPHEN" MANDIC and his wife, LUCINDA, of
Clearfield, Utah; CHRISTOPHER MANDIC and his wife, SHEILA, of
Hebron, Ky.; KATHLEEN KEELER and her husband, DAVID, of
Quakertown; KEVIN MANDIC and his wife, TERI, of Sellersville;
LORETTE FERRIZZI and her husband, JOSEPH, of Gilbertsville, Pa.;
and JANA MANDIC of Quakertown. She was the loving grandmother of
10; ANDREA HENGEMUHLE and her husband, Chief Warrant Officer
DARREN HENGEMUHLE, of Ft. Drum, NY.; MELONIE NEADOW and her
husband, JOHN, of Mystique, Mich.; DANIEL MANDIC of Hebron, Ky.;
APRIL and AMBER MANDIC of Clearfield, Utah; NATHAN KEELER of
Haycock Township; ALAN and MEGAN MANDIC of Sellersville; and
JOSHUA and COLLEEN FERRIZZI of Gilbertsville; and
great-grandmother of seven, KATIE and SARAH WRIGHT, RACHEL and
RYAN HENGEMUHLE, ETHAN and REAGAN MANDIC, and CASEY KEELER.
She is also survived by her brothers,
ROBERT SCHLITZ of Perkasie, MICHAEL SCHLITZ of Richlandtown, and
her sister TERESA PRADEL and her husband, JOHN, of Ocala, Fla.
Her brother, CHRISTOPHER SCHLITZ, who died during the Korean
War, and her sister, SARAH (SCHLITZ) FOX, preceded her in death.
Family and friends are invited to attend
her funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, in
St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA
18960, where they may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the
