Thomas B. Cummings

He taught school for several years and carried on farming at the same time, performing his farm work before and after school hours, often working until other farmers had retired. He was industrious, energetic, and a good manager, and accumulated considerable property, and distributed it among his children to add to their enjoyment. He was a jovial and kind hearted man and always stood high in his community and filled the office of Justice of the Peace for a number of years. Mr. CUMMINGS was twice married, his first wife was Mrs. Mary BOOTS, who died in 1861. He chose for his next wife Miss Martha MCNAIR, who is still living. Deceased leaves 3 sons and 2 daughters. Hon Joseph CUMMINGS, of this county, Monroe, of Indianapolis, Ind., John, who resided at home, Mrs. Wm CONKLIN of Xenia, and Mrs. Henry LONG of New Jasper, all of whom will ever cherish the name of their kind father.

The funeral was preached from the Baptist Church at Maple Corner on Friday morning. Interment in Woodland Cemetery.
