DR. RICHARD K. ORMSBY

 

DR. RICHARD K. ORMSBY of North Wales, formerly of Southampton, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was 39.

He was the beloved husband of ADRIANA ORMSBY.

Born in Abington Memorial Hospital, he was the much loved son of CHARLES and LORRAINE ORMSBY.

Dr. Ormsby was a pediatrician at Abington Memorial Hospital. He will be missed by his little patients, some of whom dubbed him the "cowboy doctor," because he would wear cowboy boots and the kids loved it.

Richard attended Centennial schools and graduated first in his class in 1982 from Archbishop Wood High School. He graduated from LaSalle University and Hahnemann Medical School, where he was chief resident of pediatrics. That is where he also met his wife, Adriana.

Richard went into practice with Dr. Cirotti and Dr. Sohn at North Willow Grove Pediatrics.

He enjoyed fantasy football league with his many friends. He also enjoyed reading the classics to his young sons and playing board games and building snowmen with them.

Richard was very creative and had a knack for building without plans; he built a deck on his house within a week and built a fort for his boys, where they could camp out. He also built a sleigh for a family Christmas party on very short notice, which was so big that it held his whole family and many gifts. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.

He was the devoted father of CLINT and NICHOLAS; the dearly loved brother of CHUCK ORMSBY (LINDA) and MARYANNE ORMSBY; and the caring uncle of CHARLES, ASHLEIGH and BRITTANY ORMSBY. Richard will be missed by his many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, prior to the memorial Mass at noon at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 3 Forest St., New Canaan, CT 06840.
